Getting the 4/4 pullout sand stuck in the filter is a real pain. It blocks the flow completely, so you have to dig out a bunch of wet, packed sand before you can even hope to get the extraction working again. I usually end up using a stiff brush and plenty of water pressure to dislodge it from all those tiny crevices.
